I am New grad from NY with only 3 months of experience. We to moved to CA due to spouse's military orders. It has been so hard to find a job! any tips?
I too was a military spouse with loads of moves. Prior to our marriage, I had worked at a VA in Southern Cal for some time and resigned. That was a huge mistake. If you can be part of the VA system, you have a good chance of not having to start as a new employee over and over again as you will be part of a system. Because I did not understand this, I had to start from scratch, as a new employee countless times. I was always honest and upfront about how long we would be stationed in the new location. Only in VA was I unable to secure a job as we were there TDY 6 months. Otherwise, everywhere I went, I managed. However, I was not building a career: I had jobs. The up side of this was that I worked many different settings: home care, clinics, hospice, etc. Keep the faith: RNs are needed, everywhere.
Long term care facilities are desperate for employees. You could get some experience and then look for something else.
