I don’t believe so a lot of bedside nurses are morning towards NP and soon the NP position will be a doctorate position the nursing field as a whole is making a shift
Not at all. There is a big demand for us. I receive offers from agencies all the time and I'm not looking for a different job! We are particularly needed as faculty, as providers in inner city regions and rural areas of the country and in outpatient settings everywhere. The opportunites are many and will be there permanently.
Not Likely --- There are areas of the county the physician lobby is doing everything possible to muzzle and control NP practice. They claim many many things about how physicians are the only group that have REAL skill and knowledge.
NP's have different skills and education to reach the same endpoint: High quality care
here are now 24 states and the District of Columbia with full practice authority. this is a recognition of the value of NP's to the health of our patents and populations.
One sad thing I see is that many NP's are trying their hardest to emulate physicians in their presentation and practice to the detriment of the profession overalll. Remember you are a NURSE and have a skill set physician will never have to assist your patient in thriving.
I don't think there being phased out at all. I think there are so many NPs (due to the increased lability for online learning) that it makes the job market much more competitive with few positions open (this could be area dependent).
But I also know many NPs, like myself, who are back at the bedside doing contract work because financially it makes sense for some of us.
They will need more NP and PAs...the country needs more PCP and simply cannot find them. Doctors want lucrative specialty practices after spending years becoming physicians. NPs and PAs will fill that gap.
