Congratulations for completing your med/Surg contract! Excellent decision to work in M/S first. You now have general idea of signs and symptoms of various diseases and possible nursing interventions
What next?
Do you have ANY Psych experience, even as float nurse? If not, try to shadow a nurse on Psych unit. You can also, get part time or full time Psych job while you are still taking MSN prerequisites. This is to see if you like the specialty.
If you find out that it matches your long term carrier goal, go for it. This means that you have patience, listening ears, not quick tempered, reads verbal and non verbal communication, gestures well. We need Psych NPs but make sure it s for you!
Good luck!
