What sort of challenges do psychiatric nurse practitioners face?

Nurse practitioners are only now starting to be recognized and paid accordingly. NP in psych have a traditionally lower reimbursement for services than medical ones. Only larger hospitals or state facilities hire psych NP staff. If you are good at assessments and can relate to those of limited insight and judgment, a psych NP is a great career. I would have sat for boards but my former place of employment only recently hired Psych NP staff.
