Can I include any personal interests or hobbies on my nursing resume for new grad positions?
It depends. If the skills for the interest or hobby can be used in Nursing, these should be included. Volunteer opportunities that require organizational skills, time management or prioritization show your development of these vital skills for nursing. Anything that shows creative thinking, compassion or empathy, working with people are all ways you can show potential employers your abilities and potential. I found when looking at new grad resumes, especially for people that have no health care experience, these types of additions were helpful in finding new employees. I also encourage putting non-health care jobs in your resume if they include any of the above. I found people who waited tables were usually quite good at organization, time management, prioritization and customer service. Hope this helps!
