What nursing positions are available to new grads that are not hospital jobs?
You can work in a clinic! It has great hours and if it is part of a larger medical group will have similar benefits to hospital employees. One thing to remember when comparing pay, you get a full 40 hrs a week instead of 36, so those extra 4 hours can make a difference in the few dollars an hour less you make
LTC. Hospice. Clinic. At least in the Madison WI metro. AND all major healthcare systems are hiring in this area for bedside NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED + $5-20k retention bonus.
Multiple out patient opportunities exist. In clinics, testing facilities, specialty practices, pharmacies, home health and hospice care. The possibilities are pretty much endless. It doesn’t hurt to have 1 year hospital experience first, but it is possible for a new grad to go straight in to out patient. The pay will not be comparable, but the hours are worth the trade off.
I think you should consider what a hospital position offers. It is a great place to get a good foundation, especially if you work on a high acuity unit. I don't work in hospitals now, myself. I did for 8 years and after my 1st year on a high acuity floor, it was no problem getting a job anywhere I wanted. I truly believe the education and experience from a hospital is invaluable.
LTAC but honestly with the nursing shortage I’ve seen ER and ICU start to take new grads and med surge will usually take new grads

There are also home health nursing jobs as well. Good luck, I wish you the best.
