Ask for one extra expert nurse from your Charge Nurse to help you organize what you need for few hours. Communicate ahead of time with the surgeon and anesthesiologist what else they need to foresee, plan and organize before starting a surgical procedure.

Make sure there are no conflicts. As a circulator, you should also be aware of overlaps and resources available. You may need to get the equipment from another room or wait until it is available. Always update the desk and surgeon if available. Some are understanding, some are not. As far as soft supplies, you and your facility should have some solution for shortages. Be ware of policies and procedures. Worst case scenario, cases have to be delayed or rescheduled.
