In this course, you will learn about implicit bias and how it affects health equity in the healthcare field. There are some differences in healthcare outcomes based purely on biological differences between people of different genders or races, but more evidence points to the vast majority of healthcare gaps stemming from individual and systemic biases. You will come to understand implicit bias and explore your own subconscious biases and opinions, and how it can negatively impact clients in minority groups. By the end of this course, you will be able to identify areas that require change on individual and institutional levels in order to see health care equity occur.
